Women Who Bird
Do you like to bird? Are you bird-curious? Do you love bird song?
Wonderful! We’re launching a Women Who Bird group in Vermont and would love to have you join us! This is a new birding group for all women and women-aligning folks.
Our first gathering will be at the Green Mountain Audubon Center in Huntington, Vermont. We will meet at the Education Bard and Office parking lot located on 255 Sherman Hollow Rd (https://vt.audubon.org/visit-us/audubon-vermont-office-and-education-barn-map-and-driving-directions). We will start our time together birding around the property, learning the birds around us and that are migrating south. We will use this time to learn from each other and build our birding community. Emily Kaplita, a teacher/naturalist with Audubon Vermont will provide binoculars, bird guides, and birding tips.
Whether you’re a first time or an experienced birder, our purpose is to create a safe place for those who identify as women to come together and share in our mutual love for nature and birds. This is an LGBTQ+ affirming group.
All ages welcome! Youth under 18 years should be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and bring snacks and plenty of water!
Sorry no dogs, they scare away the birds.
Please feel free to post and coordinate carpooling within this event! Whether you have a car and are welcoming to driving, or don’t have a means of transportation but would like to attend, please post. Our parking lot is small, so carpooling is appreciated!
Trail/accessibility information: Our walk will be at a slow (birding) pace and will cover approximately 1.5 miles. The trail is unpaved and there are two short sections of stairs on the route. Wheelchair-accessible bathroom facilities are located in the office, our meeting place. If you require accommodations or have questions about accessibility, please contact Audubon Vermont at 802/434-3068.
Co-host with the Pride Center of Vermont
